Report for Website August 06
Hi there! Not much to report about the normal Saturday nights in August except for the 5th.
Paul Weston was our artist on that Saturday evening. He was a great bloke who dressed well, changing clothes for each spot.
I didn't recognise some of the songs that Paul sang, like 'Stop On a Dime', 'Time To Make the Tennessee Railroad Run' etc, but
I really enjoyed listening to them. Paul was the sort of person who absolutely got into his songs, and by the end of the night he was really letting his hair down, having been completely 'sent.'
Paul also brought his wife and his manager Ursula, a line dance teacher, who helped lead the dancing. It's really great when
we have visitors who so obviously enjoy themselves.
Apart from that Wild Bill Bitcock's gun fell to pieces during the Fast Draw and there was some excitement as the Westerners
gathered round to offer advice and to search the floor and locate a missing spring!
There was no club on August 12th as there would have been a clash with the Blue Rodeo.
Then on 19th there was a bit of a blip with the singer, which meant that we had to rely on Preacher and his CDs. This was not a problem as everybody was sympathetic and set about really enjoying themselves, and it gave Preacher plenty of opportunity to hold the floor. There were some new Westerners in as well to take part in the Fast Draw which lent extra interest to the night.
So, that's it really, except for the Bank Holiday Roundup Weekend which went absolutely fabulously - so hurry along to the
report on that weekend!
See yah!
