Website Report For May 08
Hi there!
Thanks to the Easter and Whit Roundups there are only three Saturday nights to report on in May. However, they were all three enjoyable, even though we
could still do with more visitors. The atmosphere is still brilliant, and there are lots of interesting, (and sometimes unusual,) things going on!
Our first performer of the month was the ever-cheerful Stu Peters. Stu is always up-beat, and some of our Lichfield friends had returned to make the evening
more special. I noted that there was a progressive barn dance, always good for causing confusion, to 'Where'm I Gonna Live?' Stu also sang 'The Chrystal Chandaliers' which I'm sure we
must have danced to, and there was a hoe down to a medley starting with 'Rocky Top.'
It was Curly's birthday and so we all shared in his chocolate birthday cake, and very good it was too. He took charge of The American Trilogy as well.
On the 17th the artist was the genial Dave Bryan who gave us a really interesting programme, which included 'The Long Black
Train,' 'If We Make It Through December' and 'I Don't Know what She Said.' The Lichfield ladies joined Dave on stage towards the end of the evening when they played their blow-up guitars. I
believe he, or at least someone, christened them 'The Rocking Tarts!'
I unfortunately missed the last Saturday evening of the month when the artist was our good friend Dave read from Blackpool.
Dave plays lead guitar, and he has a good clear voice so that all the words he sings can be heard. He sang lots of songs suitable for line dancing to, as well as Johnny Cash's 'The Man In Black' and
Merle Haggard's 'The Gambler.' Hope to catch you next time Dave!
If you're ever passing Sterndale Moor, (a map of the location is on this website,) do drop by. You're sure to enjoy yourself!
Ciao,
Mrs Rusty
